EKONOMIKA
ECONOMICS
URYCHLENIE HOSPODARSKYCH REFORIEM
Slovenska vlada oznamila zhodu vsetkych styroch koalicnych
stran o nevyhnutnosti zvysenia spodnej hranice dane
z pridanej hodnoty (DPH) zo sest na 12 percent a zavedenie
dovoznej prirazky. Ide o zakladne kroky pripravovaneho
programu zintenzivnenia reforiem, ktore by mali vyustit do
stabilizacie makroekonomiky a vytvorenia podmienok na rozvoj
podnikania. Predseda vlady SR Ivan Miklos ani ministerka
fiancii SR Brigita Schmognerova zatial neuviedli ziadne
konkretene cisla. Rozsah zvysenia sadzby DPH, ako aj dalsich
poloziek, ktore by mali znamenat zvysenie prijmov statneho
rozpoctu, su zatial predmetom expertneho posudzovania.
ECONOMIC REFORMS HASTENED
The Slovak government announced an agreement by all four
coalition parties to increase the minimum rate of the value
added tax (VAT) from six to 12 percent and to introduce an
import surcharge. These are seen as basic measures that need
to be done in order to intensify reform, which should result
in the macro-economic stability and creation of positive
conditions for the development of enterprises. Ivan Miklos,
the Deputy Prime Minister, and Brigita Schmognerova, the
Minister of Finance offered no further details of the planned
action so far. How high the VAT and other items aiming to
improve the revenue side of the state budget will go remains
the subject of expert evaluation.
RIESENIE OSUDU NAFTY GBELY
Podla vicepremiera pre ekonomiku Ivana Miklosa vlada SR
prijala "zakladnu filozofiiu riesenia "dalsieho osudu Nafty,
a.s., Gbely. Podla rozhodnutia vlady Fond narodneho majetku
(FNM) a Slovensky plynarensky priemysel (SPP), s.p.,
Bratislava maju vytvorit spolocny podnik, na ktory budu
prevedene akcie Nafty Gbely, ktore ma vratit Druha obchodna,
a.s., Bratislava. Na tento spolocny podnik by mal byt
prevedeny aj 75-percentny podiel firmy Arad, a.s., Bratislava
v spolocnosti Nafta Trade, a.s., Bratislava, ktory by mal
odkupit SPP. V spolocnom podniku budu mat FNM a SPP polovicny
podiel.
TACKLING OF NAFTA GBELY CASE
According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, Ivan
Miklos, the Slovak government has adopted "a basic philosophy
for tackling" the Nafta a.s. Gbely case. In line with the
government's decision, the National Property Fund (FNM) and
the Slovak Gas Industry (SPP) s.p. Bratislava should create
a joint venture, to which shares of Nafta Gbely, that are to
be returned by Druha obchodna a.s. Bratislava, would be
transfered. SPP is to purchase the 75-percent share of the
company Arad a.s. Bratislava in Nafta Trade a.s. Bratislava,
which is then also to be transferred to the new company. In
the joint venture both FNM and SPP are to have a 50 percent
share.
PAD KURZU KORUNY
Slovenska mena sa pocas druheho majoveho tyzdna v priebehu
dvoch dni znehodnotila z urovne 45,9 koruny (Sk) za euro
(EUR) na 48,3 Sk/EUR. Narodna banka Slovenska (NBS) na prudke
oslabenie koruny reagovala niekolkymi podpornymi
intervenciami priamo na devizovom trhu. Kurz koruny sa tak
posilnil asi o tri percenta na 46,7 Sk/EUR. Podla guvernera
NBS Vladimira Masara je hlavnou pricinou sucasneho vyvoja
kurzu koruny "neriesenie dvoch zakladnych makroekonomickych
problemov - vyvoja deficitu verejnych financii, ktory sa
nasledne odraza vo vyvoji deficitu zahranicneho obchodu."
DROP OF CROWN RATE
The Slovak currency depreciated from 45.9 crowns (Sk) to
48.3 Sk to 1 Euro during two days of the second week of May.
In reaction, the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) has made
several supportive interventions on the foreign exchange
market resulting in the appreciation of the exchange rate by
some three percent, to 46.7 Sk to 1 Euro. According to NBS
governor Vladimir Masar, the main cause of the unfavorable
development of the crown rate is "a failure to tackle two
basic macro-economic problems: the public finance deficit and
the resulting foreign trade deficit."
