Radio Slovakia International

Since March 1993, Radio Slovakia International English Section has been broadcasting on short wave a regular half hour program depicting a wide variety of life in Slovakia, a country that has its firm place in Europe. The signal of Radio Slovakia International can be heard all over the world, and the numerous letters we receive every day from our listeners, since the very beginning of our broadcasting, are a true evidence of people's interest in what's happening in this part of the world.

The Radio Slovakia International Listeners Clubs that were founded in Bangladesh and India make us happy knowing that there are people in the world that have made listening to RSI's English Section something they feel deeply about. We in the English Section have been thinking of creating similar clubs in other countries of the world to build firm ties with people listening to our shows. We always welcome our listeners in our upside down looking radio station building so that they can experience how the programs have been prepared.

Radio Slovakia International English Section is glad that by having broadened its services via Internet it will this way enable its listeners to have closer contact with their radio station and the people working for it. And we hope that in this way our listeners' family will grow even bigger.

The aim of Radio Slovakia International is to produce and broadcast news and program material which objectively informs listeners abroad about the current political, economic, cultural and social life in Slovakia. At the same time, it aims to provide a link between Slovaks living abroad and their original home country.

Forms and means of broadcasting: 30 and 60-minute programs in English, German, French, Russian and Slovak languages broadcast 17 times a day through a short-wave transmitter on the territory of the Slovak Republic in Rimavsk Sobota (3x250 kW).

The reception reports which we receive from DXers all over the world have been a great help to RSI since it was established in 1993. Our listeners' grading of the technical quality of the signal they receive help us with our analysis, and it also serves as important feedback when we are planning the short-wave frequencies for the next broadcast period.
